Ten of our members have successfully passed their ASA Helpers Course. This introductory certificate qualifies these swimmers to help at the club by working under the guidance of qualified swimming teachers. The course tutor Steve Hurst delivered both theory and practical teaching sessions to the group, including basic technical knowledge of strokes and fundamentals of teaching. The club managed to secure a grant from Stockport MBC to cover the fees for the course so it cost our swimmers nothing other than their time and commitment. The tutor was very complimentary about the standard of the group, and commended the swimmers for their enthusiasm and commitment. Many of these swimmers will now progress to their Level 1 Teachers qualification and or RLSS Lifeguards qualification.
Well done and many congratulations to: Leah Barson Samantha Lewis Katie Marriott Rowan Mather Charlotte Nuttall Emily Parker Rachel Penney Catherine Phillips Julia Sutherland Mathew Ward If you are 16 or over and interested in undertaking the Level 1 Assistant Teachers course please contact

. If there is sufficient interest it may be possible to run a closed course just for our club members. We will also look at sourcing some funding towards the cost of this course as it is quite expensive at approximately £270 per person.
