Seven Saracens girls attended the Everton & Prescot Open Meet in March 2018 with the hope of gaining or improving on regional qualifying times.
The meet was extremely eventful, both for the swimmers and for the Team Managers. The Team Managers were certainly kept active at this meet with plenty of blood, sweat and tears (and I’m not being metaphorical). We sat with our friends from Marple, Stockport club and Stockport Metro; the Marple Team Manager bringing us some much needed comic relief (but he did run away at the sight of blood).
The Saturday started well with PBs coming in thick and fast from the first race. We started picking up medals as well as an added bonus.
When Sunday morning loomed at 5am in Stockport we looked out on inches of snow and wondered if we could make it to Prescot. However, once up by Warrington, the snow was non-existent and we all made it through in time for warm-up. Holly Hibbott called in for a photo shoot at 10.30 and our girls took full advantage of this with photos galore and signed hats.
At the end of the weekend all the girls were happy having obtained decent PBs, gaining regional times and improving on existing regional times.
PBs: Ashleigh: 1, Eva: 1, Charlie: 4, Izzy: 5, Keira: 5, Meg: 2, Sophie T: 6
Medals: Gold – 2, Silver – 5, Bronze – 8
Regionals are in Liverpool and Manchester in May 2018. After that we will be looking at the Manchester Long Course Meet and the Salford Summer Meet; we have had interest from members in these galas and will be contacting them when entry files are released
