6 Saracens Swimmers attended the second annual Winsford Christmas Development Gala on 16th December. We had attended this gala last year and knew it to be a friendly meet. Two of our swimmers were, unfortunately, ill and unable to make it but even with a depleted team we did extremely well.
Cameras and recording material were banned on poolside so we have no team photo this year. Medals and PBs started coming swift and fast from the very first events and each and every swimmer gained medals and PBs.
Meanwhile over in Manchester our very own Eva and Ashleigh were competing in the annual Snow’pen and also did extremely well. The 100m Breaststroke was particularly poignant as they were side by side racing each other with only 2 tenths of a second in it at the touch.
At both meets swimmers gained County times and PBs and we are extremely proud of all of them.
Winsford stats:
Medals: Gold – 10; Silver – 15; Bronze – 3; Pennants – 20
PBs: Charlie – 5 ; Izzy – 4; Meg – 5; Sammy – 6; Tom C – 3; Tom L – 3
Manchester stats:
PBs: Ashleigh – 7; Eva – 5
This concludes the open meets for 2017. The first two months of 2018 will be dominated by the Cheshires where we expect to have 11 swimmers competing across different age groups and different strokes and distances. All of them have worked very hard to get to this point and Saracens are very proud of all of them for their dedication and passion. All the swimmers are extremely well behaved on poolside and it has been a pleasure being with them at most of the meets this year. We have also had new team managers on poolside which has helped tremendously. I wish all our swimmers, but especially the SuperSaracensSwimSquad, the very best for 2018.
